Live a Life (Walk) Worthy of the Calling You Have Received

Since we have been made so super rich, and so much has been done for us, what does God expect from us as a result of His rich work for us and His investment in us? We have been given all that we need to achieve all He desires from us.

2 Peter 1:3-4

“His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness. Through these He has given us His very great and precious promises, so that through them we may participate in the divine Nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.”

Ephesians 4:1-7

“As a prisoner of the Lord, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.  Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit, through the bond of peace.”

1Corinthians 6:20

“You were bought at a price. Therefore honour God with your body.”

What are we bought from?

We have been bought back to God from a condemned condition.

God paid the price through the spiritual death of His Son for us, which is represented by the term “The blood of Christ.

Hebrews 9:14

“How much will the blood of Christ, who through the Eternal Spirit offered Himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God.

Ephesians 5:1-2

“Be imitators of God, therefore as dearly loved children and live a life of Love, just as Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us, as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.”

Ephesians 2:10

“We are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

God’s objective for us is to be like His Son Jesus Christ and to serve God and to produce His Work and to be restored in our relationship and service to Him, just as Adams service was to God (Jesus Christ) before his fall.

God has a specific plan for each of us. He has tailor made the blessing and suffering to suit us and to cause us to grow spiritually and so enable us to rule and reign with Jesus Christ throughout all eternity.

He has a position of leadership, privilege and authority within His Church for each of us for all eternity, with an eternal inheritance beyond anything we could dream about or imagine.

Don’t be anxious about the suffering, just like you won’t need to worry about the blessing. God says,

1 Corinthians 10:13

No temptation (testing) has seized you except what is common to man and God is faithful: He will not let you be tempted (tested) beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted (tested), He will provide a way out so that you can stand up under it”

Psalm 145:13

“The Lords is faithful to all His promises and loving (merciful) to all He has made.”

Revelation 22:12

Jesus say’s “I Am coming soon and my reward is with Me.”

His objective is to take us from a Spiritual baby, carry us through spiritual childhood, on into spiritual adolescence and then on into spiritual maturity, and then beyond into the status of “Friend of God”, just like Abraham and Moses.

Impossible you may say, and rightly so, if you’re depending on human strength, reasoning, culture and timing.

Consider God’s words to Mary the mother of Jesus.

Luke 1:37

“Nothing is impossible with God.”

In the scripture God has made over 8,000 promises in the bible to us humans, at particular times. He is faithful to all regarding His promises.

He can be no other. We will consider some of His promises later. It is absurd to imagine God would be faithless to anyone.

Consider Abraham in Genesis 12-25 and Elizabeth in Luke 1:57-80

Both had a child in their old ages.

Consider Zechariah’s vision of Zechariah 4:1-6 regarding

the olive trees feeding the oil lamps and the abundant light, power and grace provided for us, His Church.

Zechariah 4:1-6

“This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit, say’s the Lord Almighty.”

Hebrews 11:6

“Without faith it is impossible to please God.”

Hebrews 11:39

“These (old testament believers) were commended (Gained a good report) for their faith.”

1Corinthians 3:6-9

“I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow. So neither he who plants, nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. The man who plants and the man who waters have one purpose, and each will be rewarded according to his own labour, for we are God’s fellow workers.”

Therefore grow in the Faith and learn about God’s construction techniques, as He has provided all the resources needed. Take time to learn about God’s ways in His Word.

Jesus Christ grew as a man in His faith and trusted implicitly in His Father, His plan, purpose and provision for Him, in every situation.

He did everything that The Father commanded Him, it was His delight to do so, even though He knew what was ahead at the cross, and all which that entailed.

2 Peter 3:18

“Grow in Grace and knowledge of our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ.”
