The Curtain Coverings of the Tabernacle
The tabernacle was covered with four coverings, each
depiction Christ and His work on our behalf and veiling the Glory of God.
The first curtain covering was an
expensive curtain as it was a curtain of finely twisted linen of blue, white,
blue and purple twine.
Psalm145:5-8
“They will speak of the glorious splendour of your
majesty, and I will meditate on your wonderful works – The Lord is gracious
and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love. The Lord is good to all;
He has compassion on all He has made”
The second curtain covering was a less expensive curtain
made goats hair and was black in colour.
Isaiah 44:22
“I have blotted out as a thick cloud your transgressions,
and as a cloud, your sins, return unto me; for I have redeemed you”
The third curtain was even less expensive. It was made from rams skins dyed red, dyed red from the Tolla Worm.
Isaiah 1:18
Come now let us reason together, says the lord. Though
your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow, though the are
red as crimson, they shall be like wool”
The fourth curtain
was the least expensive covering and made from Badger skins or Dogong skins.
Isaiah 53:2
“He had no beauty
or majesty to attract us to Him, nothing in His appearance that we should
desire Him” |
